Flax seed oil, cold pressed
Flax seed oil, cold pressed
Flax (Linum usitatissimum) is one of the oldest cultivated plants in the world. Flax has been primarily grown for its fibers, but flax seeds and the oil obtained from them have been an important food product in many regions of Europe and Asia, including Egypt.
Flaxseed oil is one of the richest natural sources of the essential fatty acid alpha-linolenic acid (OMEGA-3). This valuable fatty acid is often lacking in the daily diet due to intensive food production and processing, contributing to an increase in various chronic diseases. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in both plant-based and animal-based products, but their levels continue to decline due to various factors, making it advisable to supplement their intake.
Scientific research shows that regular consumption of flaxseed oil:
-
reduces inflammation in the body;
-
improves heart health, positively affecting blood pressure and the elasticity of blood vessel walls;
-
slows down brain aging processes;
-
enhances skin health.

It is recommended to use flaxseed oil daily to enrich the diet with alpha-linolenic acid (Omega-3) at 2 teaspoons (10–15 g) per day. This oil can be used as a substitute for other cooking oils, added to salads, or mixed into morning porridge or smoothies. Flaxseed oil has a slightly bitter taste, caused by the peptide (cylolinopeptide) in the oil when it comes into contact with oxygen. This oil must not be heated!
